sista music

I immigrated in 2000 from the uk to the sunshine coast after meeting my handsome fisherman whilst studying at uni in the uk.

At 13 I gained a bursary to study at the royal college of music London, which at the time seemed quite a normal thing to do but now looking back I realize what a special time that was and everything that I am now as a musician is due to the teaching and experience that I was very fortunate to gain there.   Following my time at the college I then moved onto study music/music technology at Scarborough University College in the north east of England and it was in my 2nd year when I met Baron who was on a surfing holiday with friends.

I fell in love with Australia upon visiting particularly the sunshine coast and it seemed very natural to begin my married life here.   I spent 3 years building up a strong teaching practise at Matthew Flinders Anglican College, Buderim.   Teaching has always been a part of my life and something that I have done from the young age of 16, I feel it is a natural extension of being a musician and I thoroughly enjoy my time passing on my knowledge and making music fun.

In 2003 our first baby was born, Farrah and the following year we decided to embrace life, sell up and travel!   We headed down the NSW coast for 3 months, lived in a tent, surfed, sang songs and explored.

We then headed back to the uk and visited much loved and missed relatives before heading off to Europe in our van.   Again there was plenty of surfing, singing and exploring and generally enjoying being a family.

We arrived back on the coast late 2005 and since then have been busy setting up our new home, enjoying work and have recently added a new little addition to our family, Thorley.   It's wonderful to be close to my sister and even more special that we have created sista music together.

I love to play and meet with singer songwriters and to be free of all limitations that classical training tends to sometimes create.

I enjoy the whole process of recording from the initial writing of the string parts to the layering of the tracks and of course the finished product.

If anyone is in need of some string parts or are interested in hiring/playing with sarah or sista music for gigs please contact sarah: sarah@sistamusic.com
